Connecting Europe and Asia via the short northern route

Finnair is a network airline specialised in connecting Europe and Asia with the shorter northern route via the Helsinki hub. The geographical location of Helsinki enables offering fast and efficient connections between key cities in the two continents.

Founded in 1923, we are one of the oldest continuously operating airlines in the world. We are part of oneworld alliance.

Sustainability is at the core of our strategy. Our long-term target is carbon neutrality: we want to maintain the social and economic benefits enabled by air connections, while dramatically reducing the carbon footprint of air travel.

Finnair values

Finnair values have been built together with our employees during the different phases of a Culture Journey process. The values guide the execution of Finnair strategy and daily work.

Sustainability

The most complex challenge with flying is the environmental impact. Aviation is imperative to manage global trade, increase the understanding between nations and individuals, and enable different aid and support initiatives.

We need to address that challenge and decouple our traffic growth from the emissions growth. In the long term, we need to find a way to make our operations carbon neutral. Our goal is to be carbon neutral by the end of 2045. Our first milestone is already by the end of 2025; we will cut our net emissions by 50 % from the 2019 level. We are also working towards more sustainable catering.
